Wet Kit vs. Dry Kit Nitrous System

Q: What is the difference between a dry and wet nitrous kit?

A: Dry nitrous systems only inject nitrous. They rely on your fuel injectors to provide the additional fuel needed to provide a safe air/fuel ratio. A wet nitrous kit provides both nitrous and fuel at the same time on top of the fuel provided normally by your fuel injectors. This is extremely effective for running larger shots . This nitrous/fuel mixture is then injected into your cylinders on top of the normal air/fuel provided by your engine.

Q: Which kit is better for me?

A: This is a case by case basis. Dry kits are very easy to install, making it a great introduction kit to the nitrous world. A dry kit is also upgradeable to a wet kit any at time if you so choose. Dry kits are recommended up to 50 horsepower on a 4 or 6 cylinder and up to 75 horsepower on a 8 cylinder. Dry kits are not recommended for forced induction applications. A wet kit requires taping into the fuel system at some point. Don't get discouraged as on some applications this can be done with very little effort. It can be as simple as install a supplied tee. A wet kit can be a great compliment to a factory or aftermarket installed supercharger or turbo systems. It allows for more 'fine' tuning of the nitrous system. This is crucial for forced induction applications, since they are more prone to detonation to begin with.

Q: How do I upgrade my dry kit to a wet kit?

A: You already have everything you need in regards to the nitrous application of a wet kit. Upgrade kits are needed so you can add the fuel portion of a wet kit. These upgrade kits work by adding a fuel solenoid, fuel lines, bracketry (where applicable), and a new nozzle or plate to incorporate both a fuel jet and nitrous jet. It can also include some additional electronics depending on your application. Installing this upgrade should only take 1-2 hours to install.
